CLAIMS


We all know that the process of making a claim can be a harrowing experience, especially for those trying to deal directly with an insurer. That is why Bay Insurance Brokers has a designated Claims Manager who can be contacted 7 days a week for all your claims emergencies. In the event of a major loss or emergency, you can contact us toll-free on 0800 229 252 and we will be available to assist you.

It is important to remember that we are your representative, and as such, we act for you, not the insurer. We shall therefore ensure your claim is presented as best as possible to the insurer company and will act on your behalf to achieve the best settlement. As your broker, we understand your policy and your true entitlement, so you can rest assured you will receive the best claims outcome.


In the event of a motor accident please note you are required:


• To stop, get out and look to see if anyone is injured and assist any injured person.
• To notify the Police if anyone is injured as soon as possible and in any case within 24 hours.
• Record details of any other person or vehicle involved in the accident, (including their name, address, phone numbers, and vehicle registration where possible).
• If you do not know the driver or owner of the other vehicle you should leave your details so that the other party is aware who damaged their car. Alternatively you should report the damage to the police within 48 hours.
• It is preferable not to make any admission of liability and state that your insurance company will attend to the matter on your behalf.

 

Windscreen Claims


In the event of a windscreen claim you can contact Smith and Smith on 0800 48 33 88 who will come to you and arrange the repair or replacement of your glass. Please note that there is no excess to pay for windscreen claims. When calling Smith and Smith you will simply be required to provide your Policy Number along with confirmation of your insurer which will be noted in your policy overview document you were provided with when taking out a policy.

Smith and Smith are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so please do not hesitate to contact them if you have a windscreen claim. Please note that you are not bound to use Smith and Smith and may arrange repairs or replacement of your windscreen via another company of your choice as long as the costs are reasonable.
